OpenAI rival Inflection AI has just released its Pi chatbot on Android. The ChatGPT rival was previously only available as a web version but also had an iOS app that was launched earlier this year.

The Pi chatbot on Android can be used via text or voice through the “Call Pi” feature which allows for hands-free usage. It can also be used with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and Telegram on Android as well as iOS.

However, some features are exclusive to the dedicated app such as the ability to have a back-and-forth conversation like a phone call, which is also available on the iOS app. Pi can also speak in six different voices, all of which are accessible on the app at all times.

The Inflection AI team has refreshed the Pi brand’s appearance in the form of new colors and illustrations in the Pi logo. This new branding, visible in the iOS and Android apps, maintains the brand’s traditionally sleek and clean design while infusing a bit more style into its presentation.

Inflection AI describes its Pi chatbot in its blog post: “Pi is designed to be there for you anytime, and to evolve with every conversation. With the capacity to provide 24/7 emotional support and guidance in a range of situations, Pi’s there to talk to you at midnight when the rest of the world is asleep, when you want to practice another language, or when you need insightful thoughts about a potential career change.”

Pi is also only available in 35 countries at the time of writing, including the US. It can be downloaded via the Google Play Store. Inflection AI has not announced when the AI app will become available in more regions.

Inflection 2

The US-based AI company recently unveiled its latest model called Inflection 2, which is able to beat Google’s PaLM 2 and Meta’s LLaMA 2 LLMs in several industry-standard benchmarks. Inflection says that its new AI model is the second most capable LLM in the world, only falling behind OpenAI’s GPT 4.

According to the company, Inflection 2 brings improved factual knowledge, better stylistic control, and dramatically improved reasoning. Just like its predecessor, Inflection 1, Inflection 2 will also be powering the Pi chatbot.
