Several AI tools on the internet are able to generate music with a few clicks and prompts, but Suno AI stands out among the crowd for generating original lyrics and music in less than a minute. In a way, Suno could be dubbed the Midjourney of music given its ability to generate music on the fly with a few prompts.

The prominent AI startup has even received recognition from Perplexity AI‘s CEO Aravind Srinivas, who believes Suno could become the next AI unicorn.

In a recent tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Srinivas praised Suno for its quick response time, sound quality, and voice quality. He even went out to say that he’s starting to prefer Suno over Spotify, which is currently one of the biggest music streaming platforms on the planet, known for its reliable music recommendations.

The CEO’s tweet comes soon after Suno released its alpha build to the public, letting anyone generate music through AI. The tool is available through Suno’s own website as well as Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot. All users have to do is create a free account to access it.

Here is what Suno says about its music tool: “Whether you’re a shower singer or a charting artist, we break barriers between you and the song you dream of making.”

Suno gives users the option to explore songs created by the AI tool or make their own tunes. This is done by simply describing the kind of song users want to listen to. It’s almost like talking to ChatGPT, but to create songs. It also allows the addition of custom lyrics or instrumental songs without any lyrics.

Some example prompts included by Suno include “A groovy dance song about not being able to wait to see you again” and “A syncopated raga song about dancing all night long.”

Suno uses its own AI models to generate the music but works with OpenAI’s ChatGPT to give the song a name and write down lyrics. Users can choose between Suno’s V2 and V3 builds too.

Suno has secured a cumulative funding of $1.4 million across a single round. The most recent financial injection, amounting to $1.4 million, occurred during a Seed funding round on August 7, 2023.
